Hello Hello!  Time for another manicure!

Here is one that I have wanted to try out for a while, but I never had the right colors (or the motivation, lol).  Also, besides being a polish lover, I am also a nerd.  I love old video games and Star Wars, so doing a Pac-Mani was right up my alley! I have seen many nail bloggers show their own renditions of the Pac-Man mani, and I wanted to try my hand at it too. I have seen so many other bloggers try it I couldn't even attempt to give credit to everyone.  So if you guys have ever tried it, or know another blogger who has, feel free to add the link to the comments!

Sadly, as you know I had a hot water accident and I burned my hand a few days ago.  I have also had a pretty bad cough for a while and had to get blood work done at the doctor, so now my other hand is all sore and bruised.  I feel like someone is trying to tell me to take a break from doing my nails...but of course I wont listen!

Anyway, here is my Pac-Man, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Sue/Clyde!

I think some of my ghosts look a little wonky.  I used blue painter's tape for the black triangles at the bottom and some home made dotting tools for the eyes (the back of a make up brush, and the tip of a bobby-pin).  Also  I know Blinky (the red one) is too dark, but I really don't like how most reds look on me, so it is the only one I had in my stash.

Here is a close up of Pac-Man:

The yellow I used was super thin, so this is one coat over Love My Nails in White.

Also for something different, I present to you my right hand!  For this hand I decided to do the white pills Pac-Man eats.

At first, I just wanted to add a little bit of sparkle to the black just for some fun.  But I love how it ended up turning out.  I used Milani in Diamond Dazzle.  I think it looks awesome over the black! It didnt just add a hint of glitter, it was a glitter explosion!  And over the black it brought out all of the colors in the glitter.  The blues, oranges, and yellows totally match Pac-Man and the ghosts on my other hand! I love how it looks so much, I just might sport this combo on its own in the future (so keep an eye out!).

Having some fun with my Pan-Man earrings!

Wearing my Hard Candy ring on the finger with Hard Candy in Sky.

Haha sorry for this terrible photo.  I didn't have anyone to help me take it so I had to use my camera timer and flip it upside down.  I just thought my hand looked cute like this :-P Om nom nom nom!

Here is what I used:

Blinky: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Cinna-Snap
Pinky: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink
Inky: Hard Candy in Sky
Sue/Clyde: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed

Eyes and Background: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black out
Pac-Man: Sinful Colors in Unicorn
Glitter: Milani in Diamond Dazzle
Eyes and Pills: Love my Nails in White

For my base coat I used Nailtiques Formula 2.  And for my top coat, this is my first time using Seche Vite! I have heard so many great things about it from all you wonderful bloggers and I was on a mission to pick it up.  I bring you the LAST bottle in Harmon! I couldn't believe I was so lucky! I am so happy with it too.  It covers beautifully and it is so nice and shiny. Mmmmm. Love it.

Also, sorry for the mess.  I was so excited about my mani, I just couldn't wait to snap some photos.  When I was all done I realized I forgot to clean up the polish on my fingers, oops!

What do you think of my Pac-Mani? Are you inspired to try one yourself?

"Avril Lavigne Inks Deal With Sally Hansen"

OMG I just died a little (of happiness)!  Avril Lavigne has been one of my favorite singers for years.  I love her music and her style.  She has her own clothing line that is super cute and full of bright colors (Abbey Dawn).

Well I was floored when I read THIS article.  Avril is teaming up with Sally Hansen to create her own line of Nail Effects nail polish strips.  I love Avril and I love Sally Hansen Nail Effects! I am soooooo excited about these and can't wait until they come out. I am sure I will be picking up a few different patterns.

"Launching globally in April, the limited edition collection includes 12 designs of nail polish strips — including tiny skulls and leopard prints, Lavigne’s favorites — which are inspired by Lavigne’s style and music. Each $9.99 kit includes 16 nail-polish strips, a cuticle stick, a mini-file and buffer and instructions for at-home application.

" 'This is pretty much the coolest thing, because I also do clothing — I love clothing, nails and fragrance, hair, makeup, all that stuff,' said Lavigne during an exclusive phone interview with WWD Wednesday afternoon."

WOW 12! Most Salon Effects lines only about about half that, like the Halloween ones, the Holiday ones, and the newest Valentine's Day ones (and of course I have at least one box from each line).  Photos of teasers and a few patterns have been released:

And this last picture was posted by Avril herself on her facebook page:
"Check out this dope cupcake!! I already had 2 today. It's one of the nail patters, it's called 'headbanger'."

(Haha I tend to typo "patters" too :-P)

Ooh I love sneak peeks! There is no doubt I will be picking up some of these patterns. Might even get two of those green/blue/purple leopard print ones, they are super amazing! I will keep you guys posted when they release these beauties!

What do you think of Avril's Salon Effects line? Will you be picking any up?

Hey guys. I am going to show you a mani that I have wanted to try for a while, but I never had the right colors to really make it work.  But my mom had a coupon for Walgreens and I use the opportunity to get my hands on a yellow, Unicorn by Sinful Colors.  It is a nice light yellow, a little thin though (the only other yellow I had was neon), so it is a nice addition to my collection.

I was going to do my nails yesterday but I had a little...accident.  Yesterday I was making tea, and as I was pouring the boiling water into my steeper, I missed and poured the water all over my hand. So instead of doing my nails, I spent the whole day with ice on my hand.  :(

I decided to do a fire inspired mani.  And with my recent yellow, orange, and red additions I finally could.  It wasn't until I was about to start the polish process that I realized how fitting it was.  My nails and hand have both been singed.

How I did it: I created a gradient using black, red, orange, and yellow.  I started with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails XtremeWear in Black out on my tips.  Then I blended a layer of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Cinna-Snap above it.  I did the same using Sally Hansen Hard and Nail Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed, and finished with Sinful Colors in Unicorn.  Finally I added a layer of Essie Luxeffects in Shine of the times, which my amazing best friend Sara got for me! I love ya, Sara!  Everyone, don't forget to check out her awesome blog.

I am a little disappointed in how it turned out.  I didn't really get that fire/burned effect I was looking for.  The mixing/gradient turned a little brown.  It was hard to get all the colors to blend in together.  I tried different methods on each nail, but nothing really looked the way I wanted.  However the Essie Shine of the Times really saved it.  It reminded me of bright, glowing, floating embers like in a crackling fire.

Just thought I would show you guys my poor, sad hand.  Its ouchies.  Now it looks like my nails and hand were burned!  I must have just put my whole hand in a fire! Lol.

Here is what I used:

So what do you think of my fail singed mani? Do you have any other Essie Luxeffects? What do you think of them (and of my embers)?

This Ain't Your Grandma's Hard Candy!

Hello everyone, time for another mani!

I have been on the hunt for a nice light blue for quite some time and could never find one in the right color (or the right price).  But a few weeks ago on a trip to Walmart (of all places) I found Hard Candy in Sky (dragging my boyfriend through the makeup and nails aisles).  I loved the color and had read great things about hard candy so I picked it up right away.  And I have to say I love it!

This is the perfect light blue.  It is so delicate and pretty.  I couldn't stop looking at it! I almost didn't want to stamp on it and finish my mani I loved it on its own so much.

But I brought myself to stamp Revlon Top Speed in Royal (my other favorite blue).  I added an accent nail as well.  I used Salon Express plate SE10.

I off-stamped a few nails for a different look.  I just thought it looked really neat on my finger before I cleaned it up.

I can't get over this stamping! It came out great.  I didn't think Sky could look any better but somehow it did. And how adorable is this big blue heart ring that came with it.  I love that Hard Candy does that.  It is so cute and unique!

For a change of pace, here is my left hand too:

Here is what I used:

Base and top coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Cure for Severe Problem Nails.

So what do you think? Do you have other Hard Candies? What do you think of them, and of Sky?

Nailtiques Day 23

Well this is sad.  I finally had some chippage, and it was pretty major.  My left hand isn't too bad, but my right one got destroyed.  My nails had pretty big chips and I had to file them down a good amount. The bottle says only apply once per day.  I had been doing it a little more than I should have this past week, and I think that was the problem.  My nails got really hard, and any little bump made them break.  So I am taking a break from the  Nailtiques Nail Protein and going back to my go to base, Sally Hansen Miracle Cure For Severe Problem Nails, for a bit and hopefully that helps.  I was really liking Nailtiques so I hope that I can use it again soon (responsibly of course).

So sad :( But at least my left thumb looks good, haha.

Who Could Ever Learn to Love a Beast?

Hey guys!  I had another Harmon run a few weeks ago and picked up LASplash in Masquerade.  It is packed with silver glitter in two different sizes in a pink base.  I was so exited to try this color right when I picked it up, but then I really started to remind me of Beauty and the Beast. The pink is the exact color of the rose that the Beast receives from the beggar woman in the beginning the movie.  And since the rose is enchanted, it sparkles just like this polish.

Well, TOMORROW Beauty and the Beast comes back to theaters for a limited time in 3D and Sara and I have been planning on seeing it for months.  My boyfriend, Ben, was also nice enough to come along too.  So I knew that I wanted to save this polish to wear to the movie.  Here is my Beauty and the Beast inspired mani for the movie this weekend!

I started with two coats LASplash in Masquerade.

It was a little hard to capture the color, but it really does resemble the rose in the movie with the glitter around it.  It was a little annoying to apply.  The chunky glitter built up in the brush making it think an a little hard to get it to cover my nail without getting too much on my skin.

For my accent nail I used two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink.
And OMIGOSH I loveeeee this polish!  The color is a nice medium to light pink with the teeniest bit of shimmer.  It applied like a DREAM. It went on so smooth.  It started a little streaky but blended on its own.  I would have been safe with one coat easily, but I used two for good measure.

Then I stamped my accent nail using Salon Express plate SE02.  It seemed a little plain so I added Milani in Diamond Dazzle over it.

Don't mind my awkward right hand photos, it actually came out better on my right hand than my left (which is always a shocker) so I'm letting my right hand get some blog space.

Here's what I used:

As always, finished off with Sally Hansen Miracle Cure for Severe Problem Nails.

What do you guys think of my Beauty and the Beast inspired mani?  Are any of you guys planning on seeing it in 3D?

Nailtiques Day 19

Progress report time!  This is day 19 of using Nailtiques nail protein to help my chipping and pealing nails.

I definitely have seen improvement!  My nails peal less and haven't chipped in a long time! Which is really saying something since in the winter my nail chip just by looking at them funny.  When I do my nails every week I usually have to spend a lot of time filing them to even out the chips, but I barely have to do that now!  Now I just need them to grow faster. Grow already nails!!!

Also sorry about my cuticles. I moisturize like 50 times a day, use cuticle oil and protein cream on them but they still look like that. Meh.
