Guest Post: Nail Polish Anonymous Lady Gaga for Her Nails

Hey guys! I have a special treat for you today!  Since I am still out of a laptop, I have another guest post for you guys.  When Jessica told me she wanted to swatch Lippmann's Edge of Glory on my blog I nearly DIED since I have been lemming for this one ever since it came out.  Now I get to live vicariously through Jessica :-P  Mmmmm nail polish and Gaga obsessions...

Hi darlings I'm Jessica from Nail Polish Anonymous and I've taken over Jacqueline's blog. I recently did a nail polish swap and in it was Deborah Lippmann's Edge of Glory polish set. I'm a Deborah Lippmann nut, I love all her polishes so my first thought was yay Deborah Lippmann and my second thought was Jacqueline would love this so I thought there was no better place to do this than on Claws Up so without further ado on with the polish.

Okay so Deborah Lippmann's Edge of Glory was a polish set is a collaboration with none other than Lady Gaga for Gaga's Workshop at Barney's in NY. I've noticed a lot of her polishes that I love so much are Barney exclusives like this one. This set came in this awesome box....

Inside are 2 polishes a jelly black and a flackie that's red, blue, and a hint of green.

Now the black polish is just that a black polish.... which I was in need of...

Then her flackie polish, I love the flackie polish because most of my flackies you have to do a couple of coats before you get the look your going for or they come in a 10ml bottle but this one is a one coat and your done it's a kinda thick but not to thick polish and it's like all her full size bottles 15ml... here's a look at what it looks like by itself...
And close of up the bottle...

And now for the magic when black polish meets flackies...

It's official I love this duo, it's easy to apply, dry time was amazing and it looks stunning! Now it's not hard to be able to dupe this polish since their are alot of flackie polishes out there for Hit's and Up polish you can get at Llarowe's or Ninja Polish to you neighborhood Sally's for some of their Finger Paints polishes but this one flackie I will say has made me the most gaga for lol I had to say it!

So since I have finally been able to take over Jacqueline's Blog I wanted to try out a Lady Gaga nail design for her so this is the first time I saw Lady Gaga in her Poker Face video all those years back here's a design she wore, granted now as great as Gaga's but I tried for Jacqueline....

Just for you darling thank you for letting me be a guest blogger for you.... now back to my little world.

Thank you so much, Jessica, for these awesome Lady Gaga nails!  She really is the sweetest, and I'm so happy she wanted to take over my blog for a day.  What do you think of Edge of Glory and her AWESOME Pokerface nails? I know that I'm in love!

Guest Post: Build Castles in Air Constellation Nails

So my laptop is still broken and I'm patiently waiting for it to come back to me!  So for today I have a guest post written by my very best friend for 14 years, Sara!

Hi, Claws Up readers! I'm Sara from the blog Build Castles in Air!

Firstly, I want to thank Jackie, my best friend, for letting me guest post on her wonderful blog! Thanks!
Now onto the nails: I knew I had to do a constellation tutorial on Jackie's blog because she loves them, especially Scorpio, which is her horoscope. Sadly, Scorpio wouldn't fit on my nails, which are pretty small. I chose relatively small constellations to use, but if you have bigger or longer nails, then you could try any you wish.
Tools Needed:
-Dotting tool (or straight sewing pin or anything that you can use as a dotting tool)
-Safety pin or paper clip
-Solid black nail polish
-Glittery polish
-White or cream polish
-Clear top coat
-Optional: Glow in the dark polish

1. Paint your nails with two coats of black polish. Let dry.
Note: Any mistakes you make throughout can always be cleaned up at the end.

2. Paint nails with two coats of the glittery polish to make it stand out. Let dry.

3. While looking at pictures of constellations, use your dotting tool to make the stars on your nails. Let the dots dry.

4. Using your safety pin, get enough polish on it so that when you press down you can make a line. Start connecting the dots. You'll have to redip your safety pin after every line. When you're done, you can redo any dots that may have gotten messed up. Finally, paint on a top coat and you're done!
If you want to go the extra mile, you can always dip your dotting tool into glow in the dark polish and make your stars glow at night!

Thanks again, Jackie!

Glitter polish // New York Color's Starry Silver Glitter
Cream polish // Wet n' Wild's Smooch
Top Coat // New York Color's Extra Shiny Top Coat

Look Book: A trip to Carnegie Hall

Hey guys!

First I wanna say sorry for my lack of posts.  You may have also noticed that I have been quite lacking in the comments on your blogs, and I'm sorry about that too.  I have been reading them, but for the past week I have been pretty sick.  I started with a cold, and now I have some stomach bug, so I have been feeling run down and unmotivated to do much of anything.  I haven't even done my nails since Wednesday!  I'm starting to feel a bit better and I have enough energy for a quick post.

I also have a new addiction, and that is Pottermore.  If you haven't heard of it, it is basically a walk through of each Harry Potter book.  You get your wand, get sorted, and play through the story chapter by chapter.  If you're a Harry Potter fan you must check it out!  My name is Skullpixie5222, so if you have an account you should friend me!

On Monday night, my dad's chorus performed at Carnegie Hall!  I had an AMAZING dinner in the city, and saw my dad perform that night.  We went out after, but i was feeling sick and had to call the night short.  It was really awesome to see my dad on stage at such an awesome place!

I took a photo of the stage.  I wanted to take some of the performances but photos weren't allowed.

I am a Wild Child

Hello guys!

Just wanna start off with a reminder.  Claws up now has a Facebook page, so please like :)

Now on to the nails!!!

I had some major breakages this week.  Seriously, I think I had a break on every finger. Bleh.  So with the limited nail space, I decided on used some nail strips.  Here is my first post on Sally Hansen nail strips.  As I've said, I love these! They are strips made of real nail polish, so they are a fast an easy way to do an awesome manicure.  Just peal, stick, and file! And since my nails are so short, I can cut them in half, so each pack is good for two sets of manicures.  I love stretching my dollars.  Or doll hairs.

Today I went for Wild Child, which is a black and white zebra print.  Since this is the second time I used this pack, I don't have the box anymore, so here is what they look like:

Standard. Classic. Wild.

After they were all applied, I wanted to add some bling, so I opted for Milani Diamond Dazzle.  This is one serious glitter.  It is jammed packed with tiny glitters that completely coat the nail.  They reflect gold, orange, blue, and green in the light which gives an awesome effect.  Finally, a few blue rhinestones for an accent nail.

I tried to take photos that really show the amazingness that is Milani's Diamond Dazzle.

What I used:
Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips in Wild Child
Milani in Diamond Dazzle

No base coat (the nail strips wont stick)
Top coat: Sache Vite

What do you think of how I wore these nail strips?

Franken-Stein's Monster

Hello hello!

For today, I am sharing something extra special.  Ever since I started blogging, I wanted to try making a franken.  The other day I decided to give it a go!  I started with an old, half empty bottle of Sally Hansen clear top coat with nail hardeners in it.  I thought it would be neat to have my own polish be a nail strengthening polish!  Then I added some eye shadow to get the color.  And topped it off with two different kids of glitter.  Since it is my first franken, its green, and I'm a little monster, I named it Franken-Stein's Monster.  Hope you guys like it!

The glitter was a little hard to manage like some glitters are, and the formula was a little goopy becasue I started with an old bottle of top coat.  But I added a lot of pigment, so what you see here is ONE coat! Yum!

Also, I had two MAJOR nail breakages this week, bleh.  So please excuse my nubs and my hiding pinky.

Here's what I used:

My own franken! LittleMonsterx14's Franken-Stein's Monster

Base coat - Nailtiques Formula 2
Top coat - Seche Vite

What do you think of my first attempt at a franken?  I'm thinking about giving it away!  I'm going to add a poll in the top right of my page, so you guys an anonymously let me know if you would be interested in owning Franken-Stein's Monster!

Girly Clouds

Hello blogosphere!

Time for another manicure today.  The cloud look was gaining popularity, and I always meant to try it out, but never got around to it, so I thought it was time.  I decided on a nude base, with purple clouds with a pink lining.

I thought they turned out looking super girly! Not like there is anything wrong with that.  However, they weren't as fluffy and round and I wanted them to be.  It might have been the shape of the brush.  I think next time ill start with a dotting tool for more round clouds.

I also love the painting the underside of your nails look.  But my nails chip a lot so they are usually pretty short. Bleh.  However, they were finally long enough, so I thought I'd give that a try too.  i used the same pink that I did for the clouds.

I love this look!  Sadly my ring finger suffered some major rippage.  I have been been putting tea bags on it, but ill have to cut it down soon. I guess it will be a while before I can do this again. Oh well.

Here is what I used:

Color Club - Pink Rush
China Glaze - Sunset Sail
Milani - Purple Passion

Base coat - Nailtiques Formula 2
Top coat - Seche Vite

Do you guys like the cloud and painting the underside of your nails looks? Will you be trying them out? I'd love to see!
