Photo A Day Challenge

Hey guys! Sorry for the late post, but I just found out that my best friend Sara is doing a photo challenge on her blog, and I thought it looked really fun! I know its not a nail challenge (I probably should attempt one one day) but I thought it looked fun so I'm gonna try it! Crossing my fingers that I'll actually get it done, no guaranteeing it but I'll do my bestest!  And if course I'm inviting all of my lovely followers to participate in it too.  If you're gonna try it, let me know so I can be sure to see your wonderful pictures!

Flower nails for a special occasion

Hey hey hey! I hope you enjoyed my anniversary look book, as promised, here are the nails I sported for the special occasion. I decided to go with some elegant nails to match my dress.  I'm classy like that.

I picked up some dried flowers from Sally's a while back and I have been meaning to try them for ages but I kept putting it off.  So I finally made myself try them and what better day to than a day than my anniversary?  The kit came with different colored little dried flowers and some big, loose glitters.

I decided to go with dusty rose colored flowers and large hex glitters over China Glaze Sunset Sail, which is an amazing nude polish with glass flecks.

I used a really thick coat of Seche Vite on top but the edges of the hex glitters still poked out a lot.  Overall I liked this look.  I kind of wish I chose more contrasting colors, but it turned out ok in the end anyway.

What do you think of my subtle flower look and dried flower nail art in general?

Look Book: 3 amazing years

Hello all! I hope everyone had an awesome Memorial day!  As you guys know, I spent the weekend with my boyfriend, Ben, celebrating 3 wonderful years dating.  I drove to PA (for the very first time!) on Thursday and I got to see his friends and family.  On Saturday night we celebrated our anniversary. We went to The Melting Pot; a fondue restaurant.  Neither of us have ever been there so it was really fun getting to do something new together.  They make your cheese and chocolate fondue right at your table, and you get to cook your own meats and veggies! It was really fun and delicious!

Color Club Sparkle and Soar

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  I hope your days are filled with pool parties and BBQs!  I'm Spending the weekend with my boyfriend celebrating our 3 year anniversary! You'll get too see those nails soon.  For today I have a swatch of a color I recently picked up, Color Club in Sparkle and Soar.

When I first saw Sparkle and Soar I pretty much had to wipe my drool from my face.  It is so bright and firey!  Sparkle and Soar is a neon jelly with gold flecks in it.  It is so bright and in your face, I just love it!  I really want to pair it with black, maybe for Halloween?

For this swatch I decided to Matte-i-fy it with Esse Matte About You because I am in love with the matte flakie look.  But don't worry, I'll watch it again with Seche on top you guys can see it shiny too!

Application was nice, needed three coats since its a jelly, but overall applied well.

What do you guys think of Sparkle and Soar?

Look Book: Sequins and Lace

“And, now, I’m just trying to change the world one sequin at a time.” - Lady Gaga

Hello all, I thought since this wasn't a nail related post, I'd start it off with a Lady Gaga quote, need to live up to the name of my blog :-p

I had a really awesome weekend.  On Thursday I went to see Dark Shadows with my boyfriend, and my bestie, Sara.  Then for the rest of the weekend my brother and my sister-in-law came to visit from Texas.  I never get to see them so I always get really excited with then visit.  We had a lot of fun and even got to learn about our heritage at a Greek Jewish museum.  They went home already and I really miss them a lot, I hope I will get to see them again soon.  I love you David!

Ciate Caviar Review

Hello!!!!!! I have returned! I apologize for my absence, I was taking some time off from blogging to spend with my brother.  But I will talk more about that in tomorrow's post.  For today I will show you what I wore on my nails this past weekend.

As you guys know, last weekend was Mother's day.  My mom like's so call my cat, Muffin, my baby.  So this year she decided to get me a Mother's day gift from my kitty.  Sometimes my mom is silly.  She got me the Ciate Caviar manicure kit which she picked up at Sephora.  I know there has been controversy with the whole "caviar" thing, but when my mom picked up the kit for me I was really excited to try it out.  Hopefully it will be a useful (and fun) post for you guys to read!

The kit came with a nail polish and the caviar beads in Multi Color.  The polish was a really gorgeous light pink, called  Strawberry Milkshake.  It was really nice to apply and got fully coverage and a smoothed out look in two coats.

The bottles are really cute; rectangular and slightly curved.  And they have really adorable bows on them.  However, on the polish the bow really got in the way and I found myself dinging the wet polish on my nails as I was trying to paint them.  As cute as it looks I might have to rip it off.

This is one coat of Strawberrey Milkshake, which I took a photo of to show you the polish on its own.  Its a really beautiful light pink, and I will definitely be using it on its own.

After one coat all over, nail by nail you paint on a second coat of the polish, followed by pouring the beads on top and slightly pressing them down to squish them into the polish.  Thankfully, the bow is removable on the beads bottle so that didn't get in the way.  The kit comes with detailed instructions as well as suggested ways to use the caviar beads on your nails.  I loved that it came with other ideas and I will also be trying those out in the future.  It also said to only apply top coat to the edges, but I applied Seche Vite all over to better seal in the beads.

Overall, I love the caviar look! I think its really cool and different.  My nails did feel weird with the beads on them, however.  They were really easy to apply and I love the colors and the polish it came with.  I want to try out different manis with the beads, including other caviar manis, plus using the beads individually as bullion balls.

What I also loved about this kit is that it came with a little funnel and a tray so after you pour the beads out, you can pick up the tray and use the funnel to get the extras back in the bottle.  I have never used any other brand of the little beads to make this mani so I don't have much to compare, so I was really hoping you guys could let me know what you think of these compared to the others.

What do you think about the Ciate Caviar kit as well as the caviar look in general?  Also, what did you guys think of these photos in today's post? I decided to take them in my bathroom instead of my usually bedroom location. Should I keep taking my photos in the bathroom instead of my bedroom?

Sally Hansen HD Laser

Hello all!  For today I have a swatch and also some news.

To start off..I GOT MY DRIVER'S LICENSE!! I failed the test twice when I was younger and it was my New Years resolution to get my license before I turned 23 at the end of this year.  I took the test again today and 3rd times a charm!

News part 2.  This weekend my brother is visiting all the way from Texas! I only get to see him about once a year and I really miss him a lot.  We are really close so when he visits I always clear my schedule when he's here so I can get as much time with him as possible.  Sadly, that means a 4 day blogging break :( sorry guys! I won't be posting or reading your blogs until he leaves on Monday night.  But I'll do my bestest to catch up because I hate missing on your lovely blogs!

For my post for today I will be doing a swatch.  I don't swatch a lot because I think they are boring to look at, I'd much rather show you guys some nail art.  But with this polish I really wanted to show you guys how it looks without anything being done to it.  And when I'm back from my mini hiatus this weekend, I will have something super duper awesome to show you to thank you guys for not leaving me! So you better not go anywhere, I promise I'll be back soon!

Enough talk, time for swatching. Today's swatch is Sally Hansen HD in Laser.  When I first saw this line in stores I freaked out! They looked stunning in the bottles. Kinda holo-y, jelly, fleck-y, just pure awesomeness.  I purchased Laser online on Ulta's website.  When it came in I didn't like it in person at first, so it stayed untried for months.  But I got off my butt, and finally decided to swatch it, and I was very happy I did!

As you can see, it looks like Heaven in the bottle.  The effect is less noticeable on my nails, and my camera didn't want to pick it up at all.  I took a million photos to try and capture it the best I could.  Laser is a blue jelly polish with purple flecks that really make an awesome look.  In the right light the colors reflect and its breathtaking...but only in the perfect light.

It took 3 coats for full coverage and took forever to dry.  I am most excited about trying some awesome jelly sandwiches with this baby!

This is the best photo I took that really captures the effect.

Here is what I used:

What do you guys think of Laser? Do you have any other of the HD polishes? I'll see you guys in a couple of days, so don't go anywhere!

Purple is the New Red and Blue

Hey guy! Mani time!

For this one I decided to go back to my nail doing roots: purple and glitter. Mmmm, that is my happy place...

I started with Milani Purple Passion, a perfect medium to dark purple with a hit of shimmer. This is the first purple nail polish I bought when I first first started to get really into doing my nails. I wanted a basic, yet pretty purple. Not to dark or light or bright, its just right!

I decided to top it with a glitter I picked up in Duane Reade.  I haven't been in a Duane Reade in forever!  The closest drugs stores to me are CVS and Harmon, so that's where 90% of my polishes come from.  I was visiting my boyfriend in PA and we had to go to the drugstore for godknowswhat, and of course I picked up some polishes.  It was such a breath of fresh air to look at new brands and colors I have never seen. When I spotted L.A. Glitter Addict I was floored! It took everything in me to save my money and only pick up one bottle.  But to make up for it I grabbed the one with the most kinds of glitter in it.  But who is really surprised at all by that?

L.A. Glitter Addict's Celebrate is a glitter top coat with a clear base and red, blue, magenta, and silver hex glitters and micro glitters.  All the other glitters were just one color, but this beauty has 4!  And what better to layer this over then a perfect purple? Here is what I came up with:

This is 2 coats of Celebrate over 2 coats of Purple Passion.  I really loved wearing this mani.  Sometimes I would look down and catch the beauty of the multicolored glitter over the radiant purple and I would even impress myself! Ohh whose beautiful hands are those? Mine? Then I would walk into a wall from being so distracted looking at my hands.

Here is what I used:

L.A. Glitter Addict in Celebrate
Milani in Purple Passion

What do you think of this glitter? Love it as much as I do?

Is this happening to you?

Hey bloggers! have you had this problem?:

I follow just over 90 blogs, but my reading list only shows about 80. I know for a fact because my best friend's blog sometimes wont show up. I have to refresh about 20 times before it will show all the blogs i am following. I was just wondering if this is happening to anyone else :(

Let me know if you know how to fix it.

Magnets and Stamping and Glitter Oh My!

Hello all!  Sorry for the lack of posting.  I have been getting more hours at my job which sadly leaves little time for blogging :( But I'm trying my best to do my nails and post when I can!

As I mentioned, my nails have been breaking left and right this past week, so I had to file them down A LOT. Blech.  I tend to like dark colors on my short nails, and light colors when my nails are long.  So I decided to go to the Dark Side for this manicure while my nails are super short. I hope they grow back soon. Grow nails, grow!

For this manicure I went for something bold and fun.  I wanted to combine different looks into one manicure and I think I accomplished just that.  I started with a magnetic polish.  I am always looking for different ways to wear magnetic polishes so if you have any ideas I would love to hear them!  I haven't stamped in a while and my plates were getting lonely, so I whipped them out and decided to stamp over the magnetic polish.  But of course no manicure would be complete without glitter, so I finished off with some loose glitter at my cuticles.  I hope you guys like the final product!

It was really hard taking photos with all the glitter, it kept making my photos blurry :(  I hope you guys don't get too dizzy looking at these blurry nails!

Here is what I used:
17 Magnetized Nail Polish (grey/black/silver)
Revlon Top Speed in Metallic
Splash Nail Art Glitter in Onyx
Salon Express Image Plate SE11

What do you think of this look? Is it too much look for you, or the right amount of pizzazz?

I wanna see yo peacock!

Yes that was necessary.

And so was that.

Here is another manicure I did while I was laptopless.  I decided on a cloud mani inspired by peacocks.

It didn't come out exactly how I imagined, but I ended up really liking it!  Though I was quite surprised by the blue polish.

I used Jolly Rancher in Blue Raspberry, which is scented and smells amazing!  I wanted to show you the bottle for comparison.  I chose it as a nice medium blue, and once it dried on my nails it got so much darker!  I still like the color, but I was really surprised when I saw it.

Here is what I used:

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Emerald City
Revlon Top Speed in Royal
Jolly Rancher in Blue Raspberry
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Golden-I

What do you think of this Peacock inspired mani?
