Pastel Fish Tail

Hello ladies (and gents?)!  Its getting busy at work and at home (since I've got something special up my sleeve coming soon!) but I found some time to try some more nail art. The fish tail mani is becoming popular so I thought I would try it out.  Some bloggers are using tape, or nail art brushes, but I just used the regular polish brush in the bottle.

Like almost all the nail art I try, it didn't come out perfect, and I need to practice more.  But overall I like this look.  It has lots of possibilities to try different colors or as accent nails.  I will totally be trying this look again!

Here's what I used:
Revlon Top Speed in Jaded
Ciate in Strawberry Milkshake (the polish that came in my Caviar mani set)
Revlon Top Speed in Metallic

What do you think of the fish tail look? What color combinations should I try next?

Don't forget to check back soon, I've got something special coming up! :)

Summer Wedding

Hey guys! I am back from upstate NY and ready got get back to blogging.  I was there with my boyfriend and his family to watch his cousin get married.  It was a gorgeous day! Perfect for an outdoor wedding.  She had the whole event in her fiance husband's back yard.  The ceremony was short, but really nice, and my boyfriend's sister was the maid of honor.  We had lots of fun at the reception. Highlight of the night was seeing my boyfriend's dad to the Bernie. Its some dance, if you don't know it you need to look it up. Hysterical.

Tattoo Me

Hey ladies! Here is the last post from my time without a laptop.  Luckily my computer is working ok for now (minus losing half my music) let's hope it stays that way!  For a while I have been wanting to try a black and nude mani and I finally got off my tushie and gave it a try!  I love the black and nude look, it reminds me of tattoos, and being inked I figured I might as well tattoo my nails too! Well not really, that would be strange.

For this mani I used Salon Express image plate SE10.  This mani made me realize that I really don't have enough stamping plates.  I only have the ones that came with the Salon Express, most of which were various floral designs, and there's only so many looks I can make with that.  So I guess I'll be looking out for stamping plates. Boo spending money.

Here's what I used:

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black Out
China Glaze in Sunset Sail

What do you think of black and nude together? And where is the best place to get some awesome (and cheap) stamping plates?

Nails for a Summer Wedding

Hey lovelies! I'm spending the weekend with my boyfriend because his oldest cousin is getting married this weekend.  I decided that called for some elegant nails, but as always, with a fun twist.  I knew I wanted to do a french mani, but I also wanted to match the dress I got for the occasions. Here is what I came up with:

I started with purple tips, but I added some sparkle because, hey, everything needs some sparkle!  I decided to add a pink flower accent nail. I attempted to make the flower with a dotting tool, but that was fail.  So I whipped out my stamping plates and gave that a go, and I think it came out much better!

Here is the pattern on my dress.  You'll see the rest of it soon, promise.

Here's what I used:

Sinful Colors in Unicorn
Milani in Purple Passion
Sinful Colors in Frenzy
Color Club in Pink Rush

What do you think of my floral french nails?

Gradient Fail

Hey lovelies! I hope your weeks are going well.  Today I have another mani from when my laptop was broken. I opted for 3 colors instead of two, but for my first time I probably should have stayed simple, haha.  I opted for some light springs colors.

I started with a layer of white underneath, but I realized after I should have started with my lightest nail polish color which was blue. Oh well, you live and learn.  I then dripped each color on a plate and dabbed a make up sponge in it, and then on my nail.  It didn't look like a tradition gradient at all, but I think its still came out pretty cool, like water colors.

Its a little blotchy but still neat!

Here's What I used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink
Milani in Purple Passion
Hard Candy in Sky

What do you think of my failed gradient? Do you guys have any tips for creating gradient nails?

A weekend in NY

While my lap top was out of commission I was working a lot.  But I took off a few days to spend some time with my friends and boyfriend.   I got to see my friend, Avra's, sister all dressed up for her prom and then I showed Ben the really old cemetery behind the school.  Seriously, its right behind the football field, and the tombstones are from the 1800's and early 1900's!   Ben and I also ventured to NYC to see the museum of sex.  We are definitely way to immature for a place like that.

Creamy Sandwhich

Hello world! Oh its nice to be able to blog again!  I still have a few more posts up my sleeve to catch up on.  While I was without a lap top, I didn't have access to my inspirations book marks.  However, you guys may have remembered my post on how I organize my polish, I mentioned that I have a plate where I test out ideas for manis.  So that's where I got the inspiration for this one.

For the longest time I didn't one any jelly polishes! Actually I barely understood what one was!  I am slowly acquiring more jellies, but I always loved the look of a jelly sandwich.  So I tested out layering a very thin cream over a glitter and BAM the creamy sandwich was born.

I started with a layer of Love My Nails in White, which is a super thin white polish.  Followed by a layer of the amazing and famous Happy Birthday, you know, the best multicolored glitter top coat in existence.  And finished off with an other layer of White (got to love creative polish names huh?).

Over all I liked the look. A bit different from a jelly sandwich but still pretty cool.  My boyfriend said it reminded him of party cake ice cream. Mmmm. He knows how to compliment a girl.

Here's what I used:
 Deborah Lippmann in Happy Birthday
Love My Nails in White

What do you guys think of the Creamy Sandwich? Will you be trying it you yourself? I'd love to see what you create!

Its true, I was Born into Privilege

I'm back!..Back in the New York groove! Yes that was necessary.

But really, I finally have a working lap top again!  My hard drive broke, and right after that was fixed, the place where you plug in the power cord broke! Ah! I have the worst luck! Thankfully I had most of my files backed up on my dad's computer so I only lost a few photos, not too bad considering! While I was on my blogging hiatus I was still polishing away, so I have a few manis from the past two weeks to show you, yay!

Today's is a swatch of one awesome glitter explosion!  While in PA I picked up a polish from the Wet n Wild Coloricon line which are colorful holo glitter polishes.  Now I love glitter top coats, but I really really love glitter polishes.  What can I say? I have glitter in my veins.

Here is Wet n Wild Born into Privilege.

Born into Privilege is a light green holo glitter POLISH with pink, red, green, light blue, gold and silver hex glitter. Can you say ah-maze-ing?

It was a little hard to capture the color, it looks a bit lighter in the photos than it really is. The first two bottle shot pictures I took most accurately show the color.  I love how glittery this polish was.  I loved wearing it out in the sunny weather.

What do you think of this glitter polish? And glitter polishes in general?
