I Might Have Murdered Someone

Hey guys! October is winding down and that means so are my Halloween nails, as sad as it is that my favorite month is ending, it means that Halloween and my birthday are really soon! Yay!  Most of my manis this month were the orange and black kind with iconic Halloween images.  I decided for this one to go with a scary look.  I have seen many splatter manis (I even tried one a long time ago) and many blood splatter ones too.  I have been wanting to get the ol' splatter straw out for a while, so why not a Halloween blood splatter mani!

Photobucket

I decided to go with two kinds of blood for this look.  The older, darker, dried up blood from my first kill, and then fresher, redder blood for my most recent kill.  I decided on a grey background for a more creepy look.

Sorry for the photo spam, but I was seriously obsessed with these nails! They were just so dark and creppy and cool, I couldn't stop taking photos!

Here's what I used:

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Wet Cement
Sinful Colors in Ruby Ruby
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Cinna-Snap

What do you think of my version of the blood splatter mani? I think I might try more splatter looks in the future!

Jacquie-O-Lanterns

Hey everyone! Halloween is finally coming up soon and I am so excited!  However I pretty much consider all off October to be Halloween, but most people are not as crazy as I am.  And what can be more Halloween than jack-o-lanterns?  But if you're me than they are Jacquie-o-lanterns! Get it? Hardy har har.

Photobucket

I freehand this design using only a small dotting tool.  I started with my orange base, then I dragged the dotting tool with black polish in triangle shapes and zig zag shapes to make the faces.  Finally I added a small green like on top for the stem

Here's what I used:

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black Out
Spoiled in I Only Eat Salads

I have to say I love how this came out!  It was really simple to do but still looks awesome! I was getting lots of compliments at work too!

What do you think of this jack-o-lantern mani?

Make Up Looks: A Pinch of Purple

Hello! Today I have another makeup post for your guys! I recently purchased Milani Paint Eyeshadow Pallette.  It is full of bright, amazing colors so it is really fun experimenting with different looks. Ben came to visit me this weekend and one thing I needed to get done was purchase clothes to wear to Lady Gaga's Born This Way Ball (ahhhhh I can'y freaking wait!).  I knew I wanted to redesign an old denim jacket, but I didn't have any.  So we went to the Good Will so I could find a pretty cheap jacket. I also found some CRAZY pants, but I will show you guys those later.  I ended up wearing an off the shoulder blue sweater with a purple and pink tank top underneath and I wanted an eye look to match, I hope you guys like it!

How I accomplished this look:
I started with a thin layer of white shadow from the palette all over my eyelid
Next, I applied the hot pink on the inner corner of my eyes
I then blended outward with the purple from the palette
Finally, I blended outward again with the blue in the outer corners of my eyes
I lined my upper eyelid with Korres eye pencil in black, and my lower with Urban Decay eye pencil in Lust
I finished off this look with Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara

What do you think of this purple blended look?

Halloween Glitter Gradient

Hello hello! Sorry for today's late post, but better late then never! I am continuing October's month of Halloween manis with a glitter gradient.  Last year I picked up a Pumpking Nail Enamel in an orange glitter (no named).  I don't even like orange but I loved that the bottle had a jack-o-lantern on it sooooo I got it. Plus I thought it would look awesome over black for a Halloween mani. And that is just what I did. For 3 weeks I wore this orange glitter over black for some Halloween pride.  Well its a year later and I don't know  how I ever wore one look for 3 solid weeks, but I knew at least one mani this month needed to include it.  Instead of just the orange glitter on top of black, I decided to try a glitter gradient with it.

AWESOME jack-o-lantern bottle!

Pumpkin Nail Enamel in Orange Glitter (unnamed)

I think it came out pretty cool! It reminds me of embers from a fire at night, which I guess is Halloweeny.  Yes, Halloweeny is a word.

What you you think of this Halloween glitter gradient and Pumpkin Nail Enamel?

Skull Skittles

Hello everyone! How has your Halloween month been going? I'm sad its already half way over since its my favorite month.  But that just means Halloween is coming up soon, which also means my birthday is coming up soon too!

Recently my mom picked me up some Revlon nail stencils in skulls and crossbones. I had been waiting to use them until October for a Halloween mani.  I decided to skittle it up in different combinations of Halloween colors.

Photobucket

I started with skittles in white, black, grey, orange, and red.  Once they were dry I applied the stencils and painted them with a color I thought would go well with the base color.  These stencils were awesome!  They were really thin and soft plastic and stuck on well without being too sticky.  I hate when I use tape and when I peal it off some of my base color peals off too, but that didn't happen at all with these.  Also the lines were extremely clear and crisp! I thought with such a small and intricate design, the polish would smudge or bleed when I took off the stencils but that didn't happen at all.  I will definitely be picking up more of these in the future!

Also, on Saturday my mom and I took my dog Gizmo to a doggy Halloween party at a local dog park.  We dressed him up as a pirate and coincidentally my nails matched his costume! Yay Halloween matching!

Have you ever tried Revlon nail art stencils? What do you think of my Halloween Skull Skittles look?

Zombies want BRAIIINNNSSSSS!

Hey everyone! Another cool October day means another Halloween manicure!  I decided to opt out of the traditional orange and black mani for today and this time go for a Halloween monster: zombies! I'm not a big zombie person, but getting close to Halloween is making me love ghosts, skeletons, and all things creepy.

Photobucket
I decided these zombies would be the glowing-green-radioactive-toxic-waste-spill kind instead of the rotten-decaying-falling-off-skin kind. You know what I mean right? Good!  I started with a bright green base.  then with a dotting tool I made random red blotches for the blood.  I finished with some cut and scar markings. You know, because that's what zombies have.

My dad got me some Halloween cupcakes and one came with a glow in the dark spider ring! I thought it was an appropriate accessory for these zombie nails.

Here's what I used:

Sinful Colors in Ruby Ruby
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black Out

I think this is my favorite Halloween look so far, maybe one of my favorites I have ever done! What do you think of this zombie mani?

A Halloween Gradient Fail

Hey guys. Sorry this mani is a bit late.  Ben is visiting me this weekend and I didn't have much time to care for my baby blog.  We have been pretty busy this weekend.  My mom got me horseback riding lessons for me as an early birthday gift.  It was really fun, I have never been horseback riding more than just following a line in a trail.  It was fun to learn how to steer and trot.  We are taking a relax day today so I finally have some time to post and catch up on blog reading.

As you all know I am terrible at gradients but I thought I'd try it again in honor of the best holiday ever.  Overall...it still came out terrible.  As guess as a nail artist there are some techniques we are really good at, and some we just can't seem to master.

Photobucket

I really loved these too polishes.  The orange is Color Club Sparkle and Soar which is a stunning orange polish with gold shimmer which really catches the light.  I thought it would look great paired with Sally Hansen Insta-dri In a Flurry.  In a Flurry is an amazing black polish with blue, purple, and green shimmer.  I am seriously in love with it. I really need to just wear it on its own so I can show you the amazingness.

Photobucket
I have tried a number of gradient methods and none of them seem to work for me. I think My thumb came out decent, but it doesn't look too gradienty, more like a 50/50 mani.  Yes, I did just say "gradienty."

Here is what I used:

Color Club in Sparkle and Soar
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in In a Flurry

Overall I adore these colors on thier own, but I was pretty much a fail making them into a gradient. I guess I will try something different to show the beauty of these Halloween colors.

Do you think this gradient was a fail? Do you have any nail techniques that you just can't seem to master?

Halloween Sugar Spun

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER! While Fall is my favorite season, October is my favorite month.  It has the perfect weather, cool and crisp, but not too cold, the leaves are starting to change and of course Halloween!  If I could celebrate Halloween every day of the year I would, but in order to not receive odd looks from people wearing a witch costume in July, I'll just stick to celebrating during the entire month of October.  I already have my costume all set and my house completely decorated outside (yes my dad and I ARE those obnoxious neighbors) so all that's left is...a month of Halloween manis!

To start off this month I wanted to try the sugar spun look.  I have attempted it once and it was so terrible i took it off right away before I even took photos. I was determined this time to do it and I think it came out pretty well!

Of course, going with Halloween month, I chose orange and black for this look. I think the black looks really cool sugar spun. I know most people are using toothpicks to spin their polish, but I decided to use a really small dotting tool.  I felt that using the dotting tool made the polish think and stringy faster than a toothpick.  I also opted for a layer of top coat to flatten out the strings.

Here is what I used:
Sally Hasnen Xtreme Wear- Sun Kissed
Sally Hasnen Xtreme Wear- Black Out

What do you think of my sugar spun Halloween look?
