Headliner Cruise Liner

Good news everyone! I am pretty much back to normal after my wisdom teeth extraction.  Only a little bit of pain, the swelling is completely down, and I just can't eat anything crunchy. Yay! That was one experience that I'm glad is over and I never have to do again.  Luckily with feeling better, I was able to rock some new nail art with Ciate Mini Mani Month day 15.  I also finally got to used the 3rd Lippmann that my brother got me for Chanukkah.

This is Headliner, the perfect teal cream.  You could get away with one this coat, but I went for 2 thinner ones for full opacity.  I actually don't have any basic teals like this is my collection so I am super stoked about it!

I decided that I wanted to pair this beautiful color with silver and white, gaining inspiration from Tiffany's.  But after searching on Pinterest for ideas, I found this nail set and I knew it was the winner.

Headliner came out looking more blue in the photos, but its actually a more true teal color.

For the anchor, I picked out the silver beads from a bottle of caviar pearls.  I think this has to be my new favorite way of doing nail art!  It is so much easier placing the beads where I want them instead of painting on the designs, and with the Ciate box I got so many new bottles of caviar pearls in lots of colors.  I will definitely be doing more designs like this.

Put me on Speed Dial

A.K.A.-Why you should not attempt nail art while recovering from getting your wisdom teeth extracted.

Well I am still on the long and painful process of recovery, thing aren't going too much better, I still wake up in a lot of pain and I still look like a chipmunk, also I am really over eating the same foods every day.  But when I was REALLY over was naked nails.  I took off my nail polish before I got my teeth pulled...because I'm crazy.  I told myself it was that I didn't have to look at chipped nail polish for 3 days while I was recovering.  The real reason was that I was wearing crazy bright orange, and I didn't want to distract the anesthesiologist from putting the IV in my hand (I have an irrational fear of getting needles in my inner elbow so I didn't want to mess anything up).  Yes, I know I am quite insane.

After a few days I really just needed some color on my nails, so I broke out day 14 of the Ciate Mini Mani Month.

Photobucket

This is Speed Dial.  A really nice red-coral color, opaque in 3 coats.  This is what I love about this box, it is allowing me to try polishes that I normally would never would have bought on my own.  I'm not a big fan of coral really, but this polish is really pretty.  I had good intentions for this polish, I really did.  I planned something really cute and pretty to match this polish.  I found this manicure on Pineterest and I decided it was perfect. Now I am a little embarrassed to show you what came next, so lets just scroll down quickly.

This looks decent...when I hold my hand reeeeaaaally far away from my face and wave it around all fast.  I also decided that I need some REAL nail art tools, so that, plus Zoya's Jacqueline, will be my next purchase.  Ok, yay this is over.

Look Book: Green With Envy

Hello everyone!  As you guys know, I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled on Wednesday.  I'm feeling better each day, but I am still one puffy mess.  The first day was really bad, I couldn't stop bleeding, and my medications made me super nauseous, I could barely eat or drink. Bleh. But its getting better as time goes on.  I spent last weekend in PA with Ben.  We had fun trying out a new restaurant, shopping in Petco, and visiting his friend in Philly.  It was so nice out for winter (even though now it is sooooo cold!) so I decided to go out and take some photos of my outfit. Then I was joined by a cute, little friend :)

I am loving this faux leather jacket that I picked up on Black Friday at Khol's.  I am also loving colored jeans, I added these green pants for a pop of color with the black and grey.

Ben's kitty, Ginger, came to help us take photos.  I always called her a plus sized model, and she proved me right!

What do you think of this outfit?  Are you in love with colored jeans (and faux leather) as much as I am?

Wear Your Glass Slippers to Jail

Hey everyone. I am about to go get my wisdom teeth pulled, so the next time you heard from me I will be down 4 teeth (and probably hopped up on pain killers and drooling over my ice cream). But until then, I have day 13 of the Ciate Mini Mani Month.

Photobucket

This is Glass Slipper.  When I first saw it in the bottle, I thought it was a blue polish with lots of blue glitter, but looking closer I saw that it is a very packed and fine blue glitter in a clear base.  You might be able to build this up to opacity in 3-4 coats, but I decided to use it as a glitter topper. This would look gorgeous over a dark blue, but I really wanted to highlight the glitter, so I layered it over the most contrasting and obnoxious color I could find...

Photobucket

Bright orange. As you know I love accent nails, so I decided to add some dark blue rhinestones to compliment the blue glitter.  As they say, you win some, you lose some, and I would chalk this up to a loss.  I felt like it had potential, but the fine glitter didn't really go well over such a contrasting color.  Then I tried to add the rhinestones in a randomish pattern, and totally failed. I almost didn't show this one to you guys, but I wanted to get through the Ciate box, and not have to repeat polishes.  So lets just get through this post quick so you can stop looking at this mess :-p

Love the neon orange. Love Glass Slipper. Don't love them together.  I don't know how to make rhinestones looks random.

What do you think of glass slipper?

Glittering Twilight

Hello! We have finally reached the halfway point of the Ciate Mini Mani Month! And it only took me a month!  I knew that the caviar pearls weren't going to last long, so when I went to visit Ben in PA this weekend  I made sure to bring all my manicure stuff I needed for day 12.

Photobucket

This is Twilight, a black creme with a gorgeous gold shimmer.  I really love how beautiful the gold was against the black, and I knew I wanted to play off that for this mani.  Formula was a bit thick on this one and I needed to wait a little longer between the 2 coats.

For the glitter gradient, I used some craft glitter I found at Ben's house.  Which also explains the different photos, I had to use a cabinet by a window as my back drop.

Look at that sparkle!

Here's what I used:

Ciate in Twilight
Gold craft glitter

Overall I loved how this came out.  Twilight is a really gorgeous polish, and adding more gold glitter really made it come alive.  I can't wait to pair Twilight with the Bumble Bee caviar pearls.

What do you think of Twilight, and this gold glitter manicure?

Bee Classy

Hello everyone! By the time you read this I will be at work, shortly leaving to drive to PA to visit Ben.  It will be nice to have a few days off work to see Ben, since ill be taking a few more days off next week...to get all my wisdom teeth pulled. Yay. Not.  I have had 23 teeth pulled in the past so I'm an old pro at dealing with teeth pulling, but everyone tells me wisdom teeth are worse.  But they are all impacted and there is not enough room for them to come in so I am happy to just get them all out and never have to deal with them again.

Anyway, I hope toy guys liked my last manicure as much as I did. I was sad to take it off, but it was time to get to day 11 of the Ciate Mini Mani month.

Photobucket

Today's bottle was another bottle of caviar pearls, this one is called Bumble Bee, a mix of gold and black pearls.  I have done 2 different caviar manis already, and both times I only created the caviar look on 4 nails, with an accent nail, so I decided to continue the tradition.  I feel a whole hand of caviar is a little overwhelming. I paired these pearls with a basic grey to offset the bling on the rest of my nails.

I actually liked these pearls more than I thought.  The caviar look is always a little out there and crazy, but the gold and black keep it classy.  It's helping me find some inspiration for the nails I am going to wear for the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball. As you know Gaga has been sporting the gold and black look.

What do you think of Bumble Bee and this caviar look?

DIY Black Spotted

I interrupt your normally scheduled Ciate Mini Mani month to bring you a mani I am super excited about!  I saw this video on Pinterest and I knew I had to try it right away.

This is a new water "marbling" technique that involves dropping some polish in a cup of water, and then spraying it with hand sanitizer spray. You then dip your finger as you normally would with the water marble technique  The end result is this spotted look.  The first thing that came to my mind was the elusive OPI Black Spotted, a polish similar to crackle polishes, but extremely rare and hard to get a hold of.  With this technique, you can achieve the OPI Black Spotted look with just any ole black polish.  I loved recreating the OPI Black Spotted look, but the great part about this is you can make a spotted manicure using any color polish!  In your face OPI!

Photobucket
I decided to layered the black spotted over an orange to yellow neon gradient.  I really wanted to black to contrast against the base polish to get the full effect.  For my "black spotted" I used Lippmann's Edge of Glory Base Color, the black polish that comes in the Edge of Glory polish duo.

This wasn't perfect, but it's pretty damn close!  I love that I can finally rock the black spotted look without committing crimes, and unmentionable favors to get my hands on a bottle of OPI. I can't wait to try this with other colors as well!

What do you think of this DIY version of OPI Black Spotted? Are you going to try this look?
