Sundance and Raindance

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all having a wonderful morning.  I know you are because you're reading my blog :-P  Things have been pretty neutral around here, just doing the normal thing.  It has been raining a lot in my neck of the woods which is really bringing me down.  I'd pick the freezing cold winter over a rainy spring any day! Then I tell people that and they call me a freak.

On to the nails!

Today I present to you day 22 of the Ciate Mini Mani Month.

Photobucket

This is Sundance, the fourth, and final bottle of caviar pearls in the box.  This one has teal and gold beads, with some orange and silver hex glitters mixed in there.  As with Prom Queen, the hex glitters look really cool in the bottle, but don't work well in a caviar mani.  I took inspiration from the name to create this mani...well this accent nail anyway.

Ciate in Big Yellow Taxi
Color Club in Sparkle and Soar

I really liked these pearls.  The teal is really pretty and looks great with the gold. It was nice doing this mani, thinking about the sun during all the rain.

What do you think of Sundance and this sunny manicure?

Faded Flowers

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  Ben came to visit me and we had fun going out with one of his friends that's going to school in New York now.  We went to some local bars and somehow started talking to these Mexican men that only spoke a little English, while the three of us barely spoke any Spanish.  It was pretty fun until he called me bonita and made kissy faces at me.  I pointed to Ben and said "mi novio!" and we got out of there quick.  I had a fun time, but then it was time for Ben to drive back to school, and time for me to do another manicure.

Photobucket

Behind door 21 was Fade to Greige, a unique color in the grey/brown/purple range.  This one had a better formula than some of the others, needing 2 think coats (or 3 thin if you prefer). The color reminded me of old cloth, and I though some little flowers were fitting.

I had to wake up pretty early to get the right lighting to capture this mani.  The flowers were a little hard to capture, but they are clearer in person.

The Line Up:

Ciate in Fade to Greige
Sinful Colors in Unicorn
Spoiled in I Only Eat Salads
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On

I really love how full patterns look on nails.  It looks really nice, but it was still easy to do.  I definitely captured the vintage feel I was looking for.

What do you think of Fade to Greige and this full pattern flower mani?  What are some of your crazy night out stories?

Why don't you come with me little girl on a Magic Carpet ride

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone's been having a good week.  Unfortunately mine hasn't been going great.  My job has taken a bad turn as I got in a fight with my good friend there.  She then went behind my back telling another girl what I said about her, and then she left me a nasty note.  On top of that, my boss literally told me that I am her last choice when it comes to picking someone to give extra responsibility to.  Ugh, I have really been feeling crappy lately and I hope things can get better soon.

On a positive note, it's time for day 20! I can't believe its already day 20, only 4 more days of the Ciate Mini Mani month. What kinds of polishes to you hope to be behind the last four doors?

Photobucket

This is Magic Carpet, a glitter topper with small purple glitters in a clear base.  I decided to layer this over a new purple I got.

Ciate in Magic Carpet
Spoiled in Kickin' The Habbit

Over all this is a nice purple glitter, and I love how it looked over the neon purple.  It kind of reminded me of a jelly sandwich...even though it wasn't.

What do you think of Magic Carpet? What other colors should I layer it over?

Nude Leopard

Do you ever have one of those days where you plan on getting lots of stuff done off your to do list, and then something happens and you don't get anything done? Well that's what happened to me yesterday.  After 5 years of using the same phone, I finally decided to use my upgrade that I got 3 years ago, and get a new phone.  I never saw the point in getting a new phone since mine worked perfectly and did everything I needed.  But I finally decided that it was time for a smart phone, so I got a Pantech Flex.  Instead of getting my to do list done, I spent the day playing around with my knew phone, and doing things that people do with smart phones (like get an Instagram).  Luckily I managed to get painting my nails done, so here is day 19.

Photobucket

I was particularly excited for Cookies and Cream, a nude taupe. I have been loving nude polishes lately, so I was really happy to add this to my collection.  Formula was pretty sear, needing 3 coats.  I thought black and gold would work well with my new nude.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Golden-I

I was so happy with this look.  It was super classy with the colors, but still with a fun leopard print!  It kind of reminded me of rich women shopping in NYC. Just me? That's ok.

What do you think of Cookies and Cream, and this classy leopard look?

Candy and Cupcakes

Hello everyone.  I hope you all had an amazing Valentine's no matter who you spent it with or what you did.  Since Ben and I live about 4 hours away, we celebrated last weekend, so yesterday my kitty, Muffin, was my valentine.  I also received some unfortunate news, that Lady Gaga had to cancel the Born This Way Ball due to health conditions.  I was devastated   My dream for years has been to see her in her hometown of NYC.  I amazingly got tickets even though they sold out in 10 seconds, made my outfit and everything.  It is really crushing to know that I wont get to see her, and I don't know if I ever will get to see her in New York :(

To top off my bad day, for some reason Pinterest wont let me pin anything off my blog :( if you guys know anything about how to fix that, or if its happening to you too, please let me know!  It is really annoying not being able to pin from my own blog :(

Amongst all this sadness, I still had to move on with the Ciate Mini Mani month.

Photobucket

Day 18 brought another bottle of caviar pearls.  This one is called Candyshop, and is filled with little pink, teal, and orange beads.  For some reason, these caviar pearls gave me the most trouble figuring out what color to wear them with.  Sticking with a sweet theme, I wore them with a mint polish, and a sweet little accent nail!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I went with the mint color to create the wrapper for my little cupcake.  I have to say I was really happy with how it came out!  Sticking with my caviar pearls, I stuck them to my cupcake as the spinkles.  Unfortunately, I really had a struggle with these beads.  I like to topcoat my caviar manis to keep from beads falling off. When I added the topcoat to my thumb, however, the colors on the pearls completely bled! It was a mess, so I left the others untouched.  I did have to topcoat my cupcake, and you can see the bleeding there, which was really sad.  I took these photos quick because I was losing beads left and right, and when I was done I had to topcoat the remaining fingers. Bleh.

P.S. you can see the ring Ben got me on my index finger <3

Here's what I used:

Photobucket

Ciate Caviar Pearls in Candyshop
Revlon in Jaded
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On

Even though I stuggled with these caviar pearls, I still love the colors and love how it came out. I am super prous of my little cupsake too! Usually my first nail art attempts don't work out, so I was really pleased. I loved using the caviar beads as the sprinkles, I think I might use this idea for a whole, super sweet, cupcake mani!

What do you think of Ciate's Candyshop, and my candy and cupcake mani?

Look Book: Red Heart Valentine's

Good morning everyone!  I hope you are all getting ready for Valentine's day tomorrow!  Weather you are celebrating with your better half, or with friends and family, make sure all your reservations are set, gifts wrapped, cards written, and outfits chosen.  I'm not the type of person that goes out and buys a new dress for a date, but on a recent mall trip to pick up some last minute things for the upcoming Lady Gaga concert, I spotted and AMAZING dress at Charlotte Russe and I knew It had to be mine!  Luckily I had Valentine's plans that the dress was perfect for, and I bought it right away.  I can't get over how obsessed I was with this dress, I love it!

Photobucket

I love the cut of this dress.  It is so fun and flirty!  The skirt is the perfect length and is so cute and flowy.  I also love the waste and sweetheart neckline.  Unfortunately, Valentine's day is in the dead of winter, which makes wearing dressed particularly cold, so I added a pair of grey knit stocking to keep my legs warm.  And I just can't wear red without leopard print, thus my nude and leopard wedges.  I had been looking for the perfect red dress to wear these with!

However, the real amazing part of this dress happens when I turn around...

Photobucket

The heart back is the most freaking awesome thing I have ever seen!  And I love the cut outs on the sides too. This is really the coolest dress I have ever seen, and It makes me so happy to wear it :)

I finished the look with a gold heart necklace and earrings, and a red flower in my hair. I love how my glasses match too!

What do you think of this red Valentine's dress?  What do you plan on wearing for your Valentine's day activities?

Love Letters, Sweet Hearts, and Roses

Hello everyone!  I hope you all enjoyed your weekends, even with that crazy blizzard!  I spent the weekend being snowed in with Ben, and celebrating Valentine's day.  Yes I said we celebrated Valentine's day on February 9th.  Being in a long distance relationship means that we are no longer bound by silly things like the date when it comes to holidays.  We need to work holidays to fit our schedules!  It was also time for a new manicure and I asked be whether I should continue the Ciate Mini Mani month, or take a break for some Valentine's nails.  He decided on Valentine's nails for out date.  We ventured out into the cold and snow for a really nice dinner and to see Colin and Brad's live improv show, just like when they were on Whose Line is it Anyway. It was hysterical!!  I still crack up when I think about the show.

Pinterest sure is a wonderful thing.  I love finding nail inspiration, and I used this photo for today's nails.  So I grabbed a few pink polishes and I got to work.

For some reason this was super hard to photograph. I did my bestest, but I couldn't really capture how pretty this was in real life.

Here's what I used:

B.S.N. Nail Lacquer in Sweet Heart
N.Y.C. in Love Letters
OPI in A-Rose from the Dead

Afterwards I realized that all of the polishes I chose had valentine's themed names...OK maybe valentine's and death, but close enough.

I really liked how this came out, I just wish my photos came out better.  I wasn't too sure about trying another gradient, since all my past attempts have been fails, but this wasn't half bad.  Not perfect yet but getting better!  I just loved how glittery and girly this was, as well as perfect for Valentine's day. Yay!

What do you think of this glittery Valentine's day mani?

Power Dressing in Gold

Well, well, well.  Winter Has reared it's ugly head.  I have been cursed with broken nails and dry cuticles.  While that would stop most nail bloggers, it wont stop me!  I don't strive for perfection for this blog.  I made it to document my nail adventures, weather they be on long nails or nubbins, nail art that turns out great, or fails.  You guys get to see it all.  I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing though :-P

Luckily the Ciate Mini Mani Month blessed me with a dark color for my nubbins, on day 17.

Photobucket

This is Power Dressing.  And I have to say, it confused me.  Looking at the bottle, and after 1-2 coats, I was convinced this was a jelly.  Then after the 3 coat, it transformed into a cream.  Regardless this is a really nice dark navy blue.  And what goes great with dark colors? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?  Flakies! And while flakies are gorgeous on thier own, when they turn matte, they become magical!

I'm loving the combination and of course my decision to mattifiy. Now if only my little nails would just grow!
