Happy 14th Birthday, Muffin!

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts this week. With Easter/Passover break I have been working 40+ hours the past 2 weeks. My poor nails look awful and I still have chipped remnants of my last mani still on them.  But I did want to take the time to wish a very special someone a happy birthday!

Happy 14th Birthday to my baby girl, Muffin!  Muffin is not just my cat, but my best friend.  She has been by my side through all of the hardest times of my life, and all the happiest, and even my own 14th birthday!  I have not experienced any more love in my life than I have with Muffin. She has taught me what unconditional love is. So happy birthday to my booboo, I don't know where I would be without you!

P.S. I fully accept my title as "crazy cat lady"!

Fierce French

AKA the post that was almost called "Do French Animals Eat Skittles?"

Hey everyone! Today I have a mani that I have been wanting to do for a long time, but never got around to it.  Lately, due to the winter weather and working so much, my nails have been breaking a lot.  But after removing my last manicure ALAS my nails looked long and strong! So what does that mean? Well for me it means its time for a French manicure. I just LOVE how a Frenchie looks on long nails. It makes them look even longer and beautiful.  Of course it just wouldn't be me if it was a plain French...or if it didn't involve animal print!

 photo 008_zpsb23bbd56.jpg

 photo 004_zps5a111d03.jpg

For this mani I started with white, orange, yellow, and gold French tips. Then I added different animal prints to its corresponding color.

Staring from thumb to pinky: Zebra, giraffe, cow, leopard, and tiger! Rawr!

Inspired Matte Metallic Splatter

Hey ladies!

Lately I have been feeling a tad uninspired when it comes to my nails.  And that usually means I find inspiration in some of my fellow bloggers. Today I have a matte metallic splatter look inspired by this mani from The Nailasaurus.

 photo 003_zpsf65d0670.jpg

As far as metallic polishes go, I only have silvers and golds in my collection, so I decided to use two different gold polished and one silver for this splatter look.

NEW Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil Review

Hey everyone! I am really excited about today's review.  I am a BzzAgent, which means I get the opportunity to try new products FOR FREE and tell everyone about them!  The more you complete surveys and review the products, your BzzScore goes up, which means you get even more opportunities to review free things! You also get My Points, which can be redeemed for more free stuff! Today I have NEW Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil to show you guys.

This dry oil combines olive, avocado, and shea oils into one amazing spray bottle.  What is really great about it is that it can be sprayed on your hands, skin, hair, face, almost anywhere you need.

I was really happy about getting to try this, especially in the winter, since as we all know winter can leave your skin and hair really dry.  Of course the first place I sprayed this was on my hands and cuticles.  My first reaction was that this oil smells amazing! I really couldn't stop sniffing my hands.  As this is called Dry Oil, it claims to absorb instantly with no oily residue.  Unfortunately, I found it took forever to absorb.  Even with rubbing it in it took about 15-20 minutes, and it still felt a bit oily after that. However it did leave my cuticles looking healthy and moisturized.

After using this product for a few weeks on my hands, it took less and less time to absorb, needing only about 5 minutes.  It really left my hands and cuticles looking good.

 photo 001_zps49ef8832.jpg

Not a dry cuticle in sight!

The other place I tried this oil was on my hair.  I used to have my hair very long, then I cut is short for years, and now, on a whim, I have decided to grow it back out long again.  I am really a bad hair mommy. I am constantly bleaching, dying, and straight ironing my hair.  When I kept it short it wasn't really a big concern, but now that I am growing it out, you can see all the damage I have caused it. On top of that, we are all going through the winter dryness, plus the fact that my hair is naturally try, has left my hair a breaking mess.  Perfect time to try out some Dry Oil!

 photo 003_zpsf86a40e3.jpg

Bleh, so much damage!

I tried using the Dry Oil 2 different ways.  The first was to spray is on my wet hair, then go about my normal straight ironing.

My hair felt pretty soft after, but it started to feel greasy pretty quickly after.

The other way I tried was to dry and straighten my hair, then spray on the oil.

This was amazing!  My hair felt amazingly soft and looked great! Plus my hair usually smells burnt after I straighten it, however the oil left it smelling really good! My hair is still damaged (I really need a good cut) but the oil definitely improved it, and I didn't feel greasy at all.

 photo 009_zpsf4709ab4.jpg

Overall this oil worked pretty well. It always left my hair and skin feel nourished and healthy.  However I wouldn't call this oil dry, as at times it left mt hair and skin pretty oily.

This oil can be found in Walmart or Target for $5.99.

Will you be trying out the new Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil?

Monkey Love

My Free Glasses Giveaway is still going on! Don't forget to enter!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.  I'm definitely sad that I gotta go back to another day of work.  Thankfully I have some fun and happy nails to cheer me up!  I was inspired by a stuffed animal monkey that my mom got me for Valentine's day this year.  He is super cute and colorful, and I know it would make a fun mani.

 photo 013_zpsb4445546.jpg

I'm still getting used to my new brushes, so just bear with me a bit until I can get the hang of them a little better, but practice makes perfect!  I used a medium striper brush for the rainbow stripes, and a really small dotting tool to make the heart.

Cherry Blossoms

Hey everyone! As you know I finally decided to invest in a nail brush set.  I was really hard deciding on my first manicure to do with them.  Most of the photos in my Nailspiriation are ones that I could do pretty easily before I had the brushes, so I really need to look for some more ideas! I decided that for my first mani with my brushes I was going to attempt some cherry blossoms!

 photo 020_zpsd6fddd3b.jpg

 photo 019_zps0a1a7c1e.jpg

I used my long striper brush for the branches and different sized dotting tools for the flowers. It was really fun getting to paint with real brushes, I felt like a real artist!

This isn't the best cherry blossom mani I've seen, but I'm happy with my first try with my brushes. They take some getting used to and its a little overwhelming at first having so many possibilities, but I am really excited to keep trying new ideas!

What do you think of this cherry blossom mani? What other nail art ideas do you have that I should try?

Any Ciate Doupes?

Hey everyone!  As you all know I finally got through the Ciate mini mani month.  It was a really nice collections that's good for both the polish noob, and the avid collector. It had a lot of polish staples like reds and pinks, but also unique and fun colors, including 4 bottles of the caviar pearls.  While I loved finding new colors behind each door to add to my collection, sometimes I'd get a color that I thought I already had.  SO I decided to go through my polishes and try to find if I had any doupes of the polishes in the Ciate Mini Mani Month. Here's what I found:

Reds
 photo 3d1aa30e-a80c-462f-8ffb-a9c907db901f_zpsbe409b44.jpg

The box came with 2 different red polishes, and while I don't have many reds in my own collection, I wanted to see how they compared with the ones I have. As you can see, every polish is really different, from deep red, to a more coral shade.

Red Glitter
 photo af726122-4955-42d4-883b-0ce4d3da7bb0_zps64ccf1d6.jpg

One of the limited edition polishes it came with was a red glitter, Enchanted Rose.  The only other glitter polish I have is Red Carpet, which is red glitter in a red base.  I tried layering Enchanted Rose over Dangerous Affair to see how they compare. They were pretty close, but no cigar.

Gold
 photo a03fa760-e10c-4d58-8f77-1cb8562080e2_zpsf320ad72.jpg

When I first saw the gold, I was sure that it was going to be an exact doupe for a gold I already had.  After looking at them side by side, its easy to see Ladylike Luxe is much more yellow than Golden I.  I am really happy these 2 golds are so different, I can definitely justify owning both.

Yellow
 photo 22c66d65-7d7e-4288-ba2c-5c0263a17c9c_zpse8c6cc73.jpg

Big Yellow Taxi was a light yellow cream.  I thought It was going to be pretty similar to Unicorn, but Unicorn is much lighter.  Unfortunately, they both have the same thin formula.

Blue
 photo b0d0dbb2-dfe0-47f4-916f-428fbd9e68de_zpsd2706830.jpg

I think I have more blues in my collection that any other color, so when I got Power Dressing, I thought it might be pretty similar to polishes I already had. It is pretty close the an unnamed dark blue polish that I got from Hot Topic.  Its not quite as close to Royal, which is my favorite amazing electric blue.

Blue Glitter
 photo 31ea001e-5c3d-498e-9ecd-c3afaf6ebf46_zpsc51d409b.jpg

As I was doing this comparison, I realized that I had a second blue glitter in my collection.  I applied 1 and 2 coats of Glass Slipper and Blue Twilight.  Blue Twilight gets much more coverage and has larger and more uniform glitters.  I would definitely need to use them both for different manis.

Grey
 photo 21d9b509-9c57-4fdb-8658-977d1631396c_zpsc4fc5a1e.jpg

At the end of this, just for fun, I wanted to see what all my grays looked like together.  I knew that they wouldn't be doupes, but I just wanted to compare them anyway.  Its nice having all kinds of grays.  I might try a grey ombre look, or even use them for shading in some nail art.

Overall I was very surprised that I didn't find any doupes, I really thought with so many colors similar to ones I have, a few of them would have been doupes. I am really happy that each polish in this collection is really unique from the polishes I already own.

What do you think of these polishes? Are the different enough to have all of them, or are they too similar?

Claws up!
