Happy Birthday, Muffin!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish my special little kitty a happy 15th birthday!

Happy birthday to you, Muffin! I can't even express how much love and joy you have brought to my life. I can't believe it was 15 years ago that you were left on the vet's doorstep with a broken leg, 15 years ago that you came into my life. I am sad when I think about how you had been abused and abandoned. Somehow we were brought together, and both of our lives have never been the same. I hope that the love and care I have provided for you over the last 15 years has brought you happiness. Happiest of birthdays to you, Muffin! I love you!

Mix & Match Beauty and the Beast

A combination of working a lot, vacation, and just laziness, has led me to quite behind in posting. You may remember from a while back, that I have started a new Mix & Match Disney Series. I had been planning it for some time, but entering The Dark Side of Beauty's Disney challenge sent my series into hyperdrive. I introduced my new series way back in February, and have yet to share another post since then. I also created my matched Belle look back in February, but for some reason I am just getting around to posting it now.

Bad! Bad blogger!

The real reason that I haven't posted my Belle look until now is actually because I wan't too proud of it. I did  Beauty and the Beast nails way back when my blog was still in its infancy, and I ended up liking those nails a lot more than the ones I did for the challenge. I didn't really want to share these nails. However I want to stick with the series, and a Disney Princess series would be nothing without Beauty and the Beast!

The Beauty Buffs: Pastels

Hello everyone! I apologize for my long absence. I spent the weekend in Texas visiting my brother and have been super busy with work.  But to make up for my lack of posting, I have something super exciting for today.

Nory of Fierce Makeup And Nails has put together a group of nail, makeup, and fashion bloggers to do biweekly posts centered around a particular trend. I was so happy to be chosen to be part of this special group. So far I really love all the ladies, and I can't wait to keep getting to know everyone.

This week's theme is pastels. I actually struggled pretty hard with this theme. My nails have taken a beating, and they are in no condition to be shown around here. I thought of doing a fashion or makeup post, but I actually don't have many pastels. In the end I decided to bite the bullet, and expose my nubs, once again, to the world.

Pinterest Look Book: Comfy Casual

I'm not sure if it is because of this long, dreary winter, or I have been feeling uninspired, but I seem to be lacking in the Look Book department around here. When we just started to get into winter, I was so excited to rock my new found sweaters and boots, but now that winter has been here for so long, every time I look into my closet, I just see the same outfits I have been wearing for months.

In order to help me re-invent my wardrobe, I decided to add a new series here on the blog. I love browsing Pinterest (heck, we all do), and finding outfit looks people put together. I have a whole board dedicated to outfits I'd like to try.  While I have been gaining inspiration for outfits from Pinterest for a while, I want to try to regularly feature those looks.

Today I am going to show you my take on this look I found on Pinterest, featuring a chambray top, leggings, a grey infinity scarf, and black flats. I'm pretty sure I have featured all those different pieces on the blog at some point, but with a little help, I found a way to reinvent them in a new way.

Hidden Shamrocks

Oh my poor nails. I have had an idea for St. Patty's day nails for a while, and when I was all ready to do them a few weeks ago I had a pretty bad break..after break, after break. I was trying so hard to grow my little babies out, and the day before I painted them, one broke again! I'm not sure what's going on, but I really hope it stops soon.

I have a handful of other manicures I did in February that I will show you, but I wanted to get my St. Patty's mani out today. That means you guys are going to see some inconsistent nail lengths around here.

So here it is, my St.s Patty's nail look!

Review: Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup

*I'm a Bzz Agent and receive free products in order to review. All opinions are my own, and I did not receive compensation for my review.*

Maybe its just me, but I feel like I am the only woman that doesn't use foundation. Ever since I was a teenager I have heard all about it, but never saw the appeal. Once, my mom took me to get my makeup done at a department store, and the woman applied foundation to my face, which was the first time that I had ever had foundation on my skin. I hated how it looked. It completely accentuated my pores, and it made my skin look fake. As soon as I got home I washed it all off.

What do I use for my makeup base? I use some concealer for my problem areas (blemishes, and under my eyes) then a light powder all over. I have been starting my makeup routine that way since I was 15 years old. I was skeptical about using foundation, since I had a bad experience with it the first time. But when I was given the opportunity to try Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup, I decided to give it a go anyway, maybe I could finally see what everyone was talking about.

Makeup Looks: Jasmine (Red Outfit)

You may have noticed in the title of my post that I am going to be showing you a Jasmine makeup look, and by that I mean Princess Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin. What?? Not a mix and match post? And what's this Red Outfit you speak of? Well as you know from my Sleeping Beauty look, February was Disney princess themed over at The Dark Side of Beauty, one of the prompts was her red outfit.  Do you guys remember in Aladdin when Jafar captures Jasmine and makes her his love slave [once I was old enough to understand what was going on, I thought that was pretty racy for a Disney movie (although, I guess the same thing happens in Star Wars, and that's a Disney movie now too)].

When she is with Jafar, she wears a red and gold outfit. Did you click the link to that photo? Pretty risque for Disney.  No worries, I WILL be doing a mix and match look in the future inspired by her normal, turquoise outfit, but for today I will be showing you the red outfit inspired makeup look that I entered in the challenge.

HSN: Save Makeup Save Money: Tips for Making Your Beauty Products Last

Hello everyone! I was recently contacted by HSN to share some money saving tips with all of you guys, my lovely followers! As you know, a few months ago I moved out of my parent's house and now live on my own with my boyfriend.  Now that we are supporting ourselves, I have turned quite money-conscious. I am always looking to save whenever I can, and that usually involves the grocery store.

I have my own little tricks on saving on beauty supplies, but this article by HSN gave me even more tips and tricks to save even more:

1. Build a Better Makeup Bag
At times, I look through my stash and find no fewer than a dozen variations of the exact same lip shade. None of these products get used consistently and they mostly end up expiring before I can even scratch the surface. I've learned that by better editing my purchase decisions, I can make sure that I have a variety of products that I use more frequently – and I’m more likely to use them to the very last drop.

2. Clean your Brushes
Not only are makeup brushes expensive, but they also touch all of your makeup. By keeping them clean, not only are you extending their life, but also the life of your products. Keeping powders and blushes free and clear of oils and bacteria that tend to break them down will help them live a longer life.

3. Keep it Pretty
You will never find my hard earned makeup knocking around in a vanity drawer or at the bottom of my purse. Oh, the horror! I’m careful to keep my beauty treasures tucked inside of pouches when I’m on the go or on a tray sitting on my vanity at home. This way, there’s far less chance that they will crack or explode, wasting precious product.

4. Scrape the Bottom
I recently discovered these little spatulas that you can use to actually scrape the bottom of your makeup bottles to get to the very end of them. I’ve also been known to use them after cutting open tubes of concealer and lip gloss to collect one final application. Brilliant!

5. Portion Control
It may go without saying, but using only what you need can really make your makeup last. I found that I was always left with unneeded foundation or extra moisturizer after applying, so I downsized my dose and I’m wasting less. Making other small changes like not spraying my fragrance into the air and walking through it has also helped!

This was some great advice! I can't wait to try these out myself, and see all the money I can save!

Do you do any of these tricks to save money? What are some of your own money saving tips?
